reina_t_1111: Oh, look, it’s the prodigal Amerikajin. Where have you been for the past month or so?
minimoniotaku: Trying to write.
reina_t_1111: That badly? You’ve been like friggin’ Thomas Pynchon these past couple of weeks.
minimoniotaku: Yeah, well, remind me when I start a new project never to start in the middle of the story and try to add pieces from all directions.
reina_t_1111: Oh, don’t even worry about that.
minimoniotaku: I should be worrying. I was hoping to get the first draft of Here Is The Wonderland finished this past week. I’ve been on vacation since the 3rd.
reina_t_1111: Stop! I know where this is going. You’re going to bitch about how little time you actually had ’cause folks were bugging you, right?
minimoniotaku: Right.
reina_t_1111: Let me give you another reminder, Ceej: June 26, 2010. Did you guys start making plans yet?
minimoniotaku: Tara and I drew up our first version of the guest list last Monday. Already we have over 125 people and we forgot a lot of names.
reina_t_1111: That I can believe.
minimoniotaku: Then the next day in between writing stints I was playing phone tag with my half of the bridal party we had pencilled in.
reina_t_1111: Oy vey.
minimoniotaku: Fortunately, everybody accepted.
reina_t_1111: Geez, you’d think the wedding was this year.
minimoniotaku: That’s the funny part. My cousin Nick called me back on that and he thought the wedding was this past Saturday.
reina_t_1111: If it had been, you’d have a decent excuse for not being in touch with me the past few weeks!
minimoniotaku: Yeah, seriously.
reina_t_1111: What was so important about wanting to get your first draft finished during your vacation anyway?
minimoniotaku: Because I wanted a taste of what it was like to get up in the morning and actually work on a manuscript all day for this past week.
reina_t_1111: Ohhh. Now I get it.
minimoniotaku: Yeah, and although I did get some progress in, I still have a long way to go, and this weekend is pretty much when I discovered the disadvantage of writing a long-form piece like a novel the way I’ve been doing it.
reina_t_1111: Well, Issac Asimov said something to the effect of, “Start with the end first, then the beginning, then how you get from one to the other.”
minimoniotaku: I’ll have to keep that one in mind.
reina_t_1111: Put that in your Funk & Wagnalls next to all the advice you’ve gotten from Stephen King’s On Writing

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Thanks to Jim Haku for the Asimov quote.
